On Sunday 15th June, a new tuba was presented to the Casey Concert Band during their “Winter Warmer” concert at St Margaret’s School in Berwick. The Rotary ‘Ride to Conference’ Committee had decided that since Jared was a devoted member of both the Teenagers Road Accident Group (TRAG) and the Band that both should share in some of the funds raised from this year’s ride.
The tuba is a very expensive instrument, one which a community group such as the band which relies on community donations and grants, could not fund itself. The tuba was presented by ‘Ride to Conference’ Committee Chairman Ian Symons to Aiden who will be playing the instrument. Jared’s family and a number of his close friends were there to see the presentation and the wonderful concert put on by the band. The Tuba case and the instrument itself have both have an inscription placed on them which reads “This instrument honours our memories of Jared Dunscombe. His love of music can live on through others.”
